Hasbro Vs. Mattel: Which Has The Edge At Walmart Stores This Holiday Season?

Holiday shopping season is now right around the corner, and toy makers Mattel, Inc. MAT and Hasbro, Inc. HAS are gearing up for their most important part of the year.

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. WMT recently released its annual top toys list, Chosen By Kids. Here’s a sampling of some of the toys on Walmart’s list that each company is banking on this year:

• Nerf N-Strike Elite HyperFire Blaster.

Mattel

• Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice Batcave.

As children’s entertainment becomes more and more digitized, the success of each year’s holiday toys becomes even more critical for Hasbro and Mattel. So far in 2016, both stocks are big winners, up more than 21 percent each. However, the second half of the year will likely go a long way in determining which toy stock is the best investment of 2016.
