While many analysts are calling on AMC Networks AMCX to get away from relying on its "The Walking Dead" franchise, some are forgetting about the show's value; including ts ability to help launch other series.
Just as "The Walking Dead" helped launch "Into The Badlands" in November, spin-off "Fear The Walking Dead" is set to help launch the network's next drama "Preacher" this summer.
AMC announced on Monday the comic book franchise created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon will debut at 10 PM on May 22nd, following the midseason finale of "Fear The Walking Dead." Starring Dominic Copper, the series is supernatural drama with a dark comedic element.
"Preacher" revolves around a West Texas preacher inhabited by a mysterious entity. As a result he begins to develop a unique skill that brings him and his allies into contact with people from heaven, hell and all points in between. Actor Seth Rogen and producing partner Evan Goldberg are behind the adaptation which will run for 10 weeks during the summer.
AMC hasn't revealed it full summer roster yet, but it is expected the second season of British import "Humans" will also return along with new episodes of "Halt & Catch Fire."
