ArcView CEO Troy Dayton Talks About The Company And The Collective Effort Behind Marijuana Legalization

Started in 2010, The ArcView Group develops and helps fund cannabis-related groundbreaking ventures. The firm is mentioned and cited so much in the media that Benzinga decided to reach out to its CEO Troy Dayton and ask him what the company does and what makes it so special.

Big Ventures

One of the best-known initiatives is that of the ArcView Investor Network, which includes more than 600 “high net worth, accredited investors, who all pay an annual membership fee to be part of this group,” Dayton explained.

On the other hand, the firm gets requests from (about two dozen) companies that want to present to these investors every week. Among them, ArcView picks two to four companies and puts them on a weekly webinar with its members. Following these events, investors can collaborate on due diligence, assess deals and compare them via an online deal platform.

So far, this group has funded about 135 companies in the cannabis sector, investing roughly $78 million in names including EAZE: Medical Marijuana Delivery, MJ Freeway Business Solutions, Meadow, Harborside and SPARK, among many others.

Another big product from ArcView is ArcView Market Research, one of the most cited sources in the industry, which has been publishing projections and estimates for the size of the market since 2011.

A Collective Effort

Benzinga moved on to ask Dayton about his inclusion in Forbes’ list of the 7 Most Powerful People in America’s Marijuana Industry, right by GW Pharmaceuticals PLC- ADR GWPH CEO Justin Gover and famed rapper and marijuana entrepreneur Snoop Dogg.

"It’s certainly an honor. I’ve been working on this for 21 years, for my entire adult life, and so, it feels good to be recognized for the collective impact [of] this large group of investors, as well as a staff of 15 and whatnot. It’s really a recognition of all of them; I just happen to be the representative of that," he stated.
