The Dark Knight Takes Down Netflix? (NFLX, TWX)

Warner Bros. TWX has fired a shot at Netflix NFLX, and this one, might actually hit home.

According to AllThingsD, Warner Bros. has decided to release "The Dark Knight" on Facebook using Facebook Credits to pay for the movie.

The movie will cost 30 credits, or $3 for a 48 hour rental. There will be more movies to come, as well as the ability to purchase titles, instead of just renting them.

Warner Bros. said the rental is a test, but considering the amount of Facebook Credits in use through various other outlets, many expect this to be quite successful.

Considering Facebook's prowess as a video site (either the 2nd or 6th-biggest video site in the U.S., depending on who you ask), this was just a matter of time before it happened.

If it's successful, this could be a severe disruption to Netflix, and may actually be the straw that broke the camel's back.

Shares of Netflix are getting hurt this morning on this news, down $8.10 to $199.30, a loss of nearly 4%.
