What Happened: An eight-member panel, initially appointed by former UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon in 2009, was disbanded after Russia vetoed its mandate extension in March, the Financial Times <a href="https://www.ft.com/content/2d02b36d-c7fe-4b29-92a7-144c1361e863">reported</a> on Wednesday. The panel&#8217;s mandate expired on Apr. 30, posing a significant obstacle to global efforts to limit North Korea&#8217;s access to foreign finance, energy, and technologies.
Maya Ungar, a UN analyst at the International Crisis Group, stated, "The sanctions remain in place on paper, but Russia's veto removes the UN Security Council's one impartial source of information on who is breaching the sanctions and how."
Eric Penton-Voak, a former British official who once served as co-ordinator of the panel, revealed that Russia was never supportive of the work of the panel.
"But with weapons being traded and Russian oil being imported into North Korea — all of it clearly visible from satellite imagery — the panel would have become an increasingly annoying presence, so Moscow dispensed with it,&#8221; he added.

The company reported a 35% decrease in net revenue, which fell to $4.9 million from $7.5 million in the same quarter last year. However, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/23/11/35789904/cannabis-growers-rough-year-q3-earnings-show-28-revenue-plunge-but-sheds-millions-in-debt">net revenue</a> showed a 35% increase from $3.6 million in Q4 2023.
<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/biotech/23/03/31227249/from-controversial-to-profitable-why-nestl-procter-gamble-pepsico-and-other-cpg-brands-should-emb">Consumer packaged goods (CPG)</a> revenue dipped 11% year-over-year but rose 10% from the previous quarter. Bulk product revenue dropped 73% year-over-year and 66% from Q4 2023. Revenue from Lowell Farm Services (LFS) decreased 41% year-over-year and 93% from the previous quarter.

<h3>Financial Losses Improve Despite Gross Margin Challenges</h3>

<li>Adjusted EBITDA stood at negative $1.1 million, consistent with the same quarter last year but an improvement from negative $4.1 million in the previous quarter.</li>

Lowell Farms Reports 35% Revenue Drop In Q1: Following Cannabis Cultivation Exit, Net Loss Down 27.5%

Ethereum (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/eth/usd">ETH</a>) proponents might still be optimistic about a spot ETF approval but analysts tracking the developments increased the odds of a rejection by the SEC.
What Happened: Analyzing a March filing submitted by BlackRock Inc. to the SEC over its ETF application, finance lawyer Scott Johnson discovered &#8220;official&#8221; signals of the regulator viewing Ethereum as a security.

Johnson noted that this question was asked for all the ETF filings and never for any Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) spot/futures ETF product.&nbsp;
"The obvious purpose is to potentially deny on the basis that these spot filings are improperly filed as commodity-based trust shares and do not qualify if they are holding a security," he added.
Responding to his findings, Bloomberg analyst James Seyffart increased the likelihood of a spot ETH ETF rejection, convinced that the regulator was considering the security question for ETH.&nbsp;
Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas entered the discussion as well, emphasizing, "Our odds of approval remain the same: slim to none."
Why It Matters: The SEC is due to decide on VanEck's spot Ether ETF by May 23 &#8211; the final deadline for the first batch of proposals enabling investors to bet on the spot price of the world's second-largest cryptocurrency.&nbsp;

However, Santiment added that rising negativity may play a significant role in accelerating a market recovery.
Prominent technical analyst Kevin spotted a falling wedge pattern for Bitcoin, noting, "BTC is currently compressed between a ton of support and resistance and it&#8217;s gonna pop one way or the other within days."
The researcher pointed out that an upward breakout from this zone may propel the coin to $68,400, exceeding which could lead to price discovery. To the contrary, a breakout to the downside might see Bitcoin plummeting to $50,000–$52,000.

The videos contain content that has been deemed inappropriate by the Hong Kong government, reported Reuters.
The prohibited content includes a protest anthem called &#8220;Glory to Hong Kong,&#8221; which the court believes could be used by dissidents to incite secession.
YouTube expressed its disappointment with the court&#8217;s decision, stating that it could raise doubts about Hong Kong&#8217;s commitment to fostering a digital economy and maintaining a business-friendly environment. The company also mentioned that it is considering its options for an appeal.

While the joint statement, dated May 10, does not mention any specific threats or intelligence, it highlights the efforts by foreign terrorist organizations to commit or inspire violence against holiday celebrations, including Pride events or LGBTQ-related venues. This is further compounded by the current heightened threat environment in the United States and other western countries.
&#8220;We urge the public to stay vigilant and to promptly report suspicious activity to their local law enforcement,&#8221; said a DHS official, according to the report.
The alert also points out that these foreign groups and their supporters have previously promoted anti-LGBTQ rhetoric and targeted LGBTQ-related events or venues for attacks. &#8220;We continue to work with our partners to evaluate the threat environment, provide updates to the American public, and protect our homeland,&#8221; a DHS official told USA Today.

PLUG therefore is a polarizing pick, but it definitely fits under the category of a green energy gamble.



The company has successfully <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/03/37752880/plug-powers-ambitious-2024-analyst-highlights-electrolyzer-expansion-and-hydrogen-p">expanded its hydrogen production capabilities</a>, with two of its plants in Georgia and Tennessee reaching full operational capacity. Additionally, their Louisiana plant is expected to achieve mechanical completion by the third quarter of 2024.&nbsp;



Financially, PLUG is focusing on strengthening its cash management and has implemented a strategic plan to cut operational expenses by $75 million annually.&nbsp; Despite these measures, PLUG reported a substantial net loss in its latest quarterly results.



Still, given the potential upside for holding PLUG shares, one could make a significant windfall if their bet on PLUG pays off.



<h2>Array Technologies (ARRY)</h2>

Their technology improves the efficiency of solar systems by optimizing the position of photovoltaic panels to increase energy production.



For the upcoming year, ARRY has projected its revenue to be between $1.25 billion and $1.4 billion. If one wants to invest in the solar industry, ARRY may be a good option due to it providing the &ldquo;picks and shovels&rdquo; that enable solar panels to reach full efficiency.



In financial terms, Array Technologies <a href="https://greenstocknews.com/news/nasdaq/arry/array-technologies-inc-reports-financial-results-for-the-fourth-quarter-and-full-year-2023-full-year-2023-net-income-of-86-million-record-full-year-adjusted-ebitda-of-288-million">reported a strong performance</a> for the full year 2023, with net income reaching $86 million and a record adjusted EBITDA of $288 million. This improvement is driven by robust structural gross margins and the realization of specific financial benefits, positioning the company for a third consecutive year of adjusted EBITDA and margin growth&#8203;



At just $12.55 per share, ARRY also provides great potential upside for investors.



<h2>Clearway Energy (CWEN)</h2>

CWEN recently <a href="https://greenstocknews.com/news/nyse/cwen/clearway-energy-inc-announces-ceo-transition-and-reiterates-2024-financial-guidance">reaffirmed its financial guidance</a> for 2024, projecting a Cash Available for Distribution (CAFD) of $395 million. This outlook is built on the expectations of contributions from committed growth investments and estimates for merchant energy gross margins.



Furthermore, CWEN continues to target an annual dividend per share growth in the upper range of 5% to 8% through 2026. This growth strategy does not anticipate the need for external capital, relying instead on internal operational efficiencies and the execution of strategic contracts. The company pays a dividend yield of around 6% at the time of writing, and it has 4 consecutive years of dividend growth under its belt.&nbsp;



It should be noted though that this high yield comes with adrawback: namely its payout ratio is unsustainably high at 240% at the time of writing. Surprisingly, despite this high payout of cash to shareholders, its stock price has increased 64.64% over the past five years.
