Management reiterated its bullish production outlook for 2024, projecting a total daily average of 153,000 to 159,000 BOE. Meanwhile, analysts note Matador has been able to maintain a low-cost structure while maximizing production efficiency.</p>



<p>Although MTDR stock has surged 15% year-to-date (YTD), it still looks undervalued within the energy sector. The stock is currently changing hands at 8.1x forward earnings, while the energy sector <a href="https://finviz.com/groups.ashx?g=sector&amp;v=120&amp;o=pe">is trading at well over</a> 10x. Despite the recent gains, Wall Street remains bullish, with a <a href="https://edition.cnn.com/markets/stocks/mtdr">median 12-month price target</a> of $77, or a potential 16% upside.</p>

<h2><strong>Meta Platforms (META)</strong></h2>

Shares dropped 10% on a <a href="https://s21.q4cdn.com/399680738/files/doc_financials/2024/q1/Meta-03-31-2024-Exhibit-99-1_FINAL.pdf" target="_blank">good earnings report.</a> Some investors wanted more, but the company delivered good earnings and only trades at a 25.9 P/E ratio.</p>



<p>Revenue increased by 27% year-over-year (YoY), while net income surged by 117% YoY. Daily active users grew 7% YoY to reach 3.24 billion users among its platforms. Meta Platforms also stands to benefit if the TikTok ban goes through. </p>



<p>The deadline is January 19, 2025, one day before the next presidential inauguration. <strong>ByteDance </strong>stated <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/25/business/bytedance-denies-reports-selling-tiktok-intl-hnk/index.html" target="_blank">it will not sell TikTok.</a> The app <a href="https://newsroom.tiktok.com/en-us/150-m-us-users" target="_blank">reached 150 million American users</a> in March 2023. It&rsquo;s very safe to assume the number has soared since then. These users will have to use other social networks to fill in the time if the January 19th ban passes. Meta Platforms stands to benefit. The company has gained 26% year-to-date. </p>



<h2><strong>E.l.f. Beauty (ELF)</strong></h2>

Beauty</strong> (NYSE:<span><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/elf-stock-quote/"><strong>ELF</strong></a></span>) has been a top-performing stock. It&rsquo;s gained more than 1,150% over the past five years and has a decent 13% year-to-date gain. However, the stock is in the middle of a correction heading into its next earnings report. Investors were spooked over a warning from <strong>Ulta Beauty</strong> (NASDAQ:<span><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/ulta-stock-quote/"><strong>ULTA</strong></a></span>) about <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2024/04/03/ulta-shares-fall-as-ceo-warns-beauty-demand-is-slowing.html#:~:text=Shares%20of%20Ulta%20fell%20on,bit%20bigger%20than%20we%20thought.%E2%80%9D" target="_blank">softening demand</a> for its beauty products.</p>



<p>E.l.f. Beauty has been growing at a faster rate than Ulta. The smaller firm has also been gaining more market share. ELF delivered 85% YoY net sales growth and gained 305 basis points of market share in <a href="https://investor.elfbeauty.com/news-and-events/press-releases/landing-news/2024/02-06-2024-210530133" target="_blank">Q3 FY24.</a> </p>



<p>The latest earnings report extended e.l.f. Beauty&rsquo;s streak to 20 consecutive quarters of growth. Net income jumped by 41% YoY, and the company significantly raised its fiscal 2024 guidance for net sales, net income and other metrics. The future looks bright for the beauty firm, and the recent pullback offers an opportunity for patient investors.</p>



<h2><strong>Deckers Outdoor (DECK)</strong></h2>

The athletic apparel giant is up 25% year-to-date and has soared by 431% over the past five years. Despite the long-term gains, Deckers Outdoor is in the middle of a correction. Shares are down by more than 12% from their all-time high.</p>



<p>The company has several popular brands under its corporate umbrella, such as UGG and HOKA. Those two brands helped Deckers Outdoor deliver 16% YoY net sales growth in <a href="https://ir.deckers.com/news-events/press-releases/press-release/2024/DECKERS-BRANDS-REPORTS-THIRD-QUARTER-FISCAL-2024-FINANCIAL-RESULTS/default.aspx" target="_blank">Q3 FY24.</a> Diluted EPS jumped by 44% YoY as the corporation improved its profit margins. The HOKA brand stood out with 21.9% YoY revenue growth.</p>



<p>Deckers Outdoor is still growing, while larger competitors like <strong>Nike</strong> (NYSE:<span><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/nke-stock-quote/"><strong>NKE</strong></a></span>) are faltering. That setup gives Deckers Outdoor a good opportunity to gain market share. The company is also growing with a sustainable business model based on its 25.0% net profit margin.</p>

<p>Buy in May and go away. That investing maxim suggests investors should walk away from the market in Spring and not return again till October. Historical data supports the May to October period as the worst-performing six-month period of the year.</p>



<p>Analysts at LPL Financial found that from 1950 on, the <strong>S&amp;P 500</strong> returned just 1.8% on average. But whatever you do, <a href="https://www.lpl.com/research/blog/sell-in-may-and-go-away.html">don&rsquo;t invest in September</a>! That month is the worst for the index with a long-term average return of negative 0.7%.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Of course, this is said facetiously. Investors should not be investing for a month or even six months. They should have a long-term mindset when buying stocks, aiming to hold them for three to five years at a minimum, though a decade or more is preferable. Or in the words of Warren Buffett, the best time to sell is never!</p>



<p>And that May-to-October investing bromide is really just for index investors. Stock pickers should look to buy shares whenever they offer discounts to their intrinsic value.</p>



<p>So even though it is May, the following three companies are some of the top stocks to invest $10,000 in today to enjoy long-lasting returns.</p>



<h2>e.l.f. Beauty (ELF)</h2>

Beauty</strong> (NYSE:<span><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/elf-stock-quote/"><strong>ELF</strong></a></span>) took a breather. Shares pulled back 27% from their all-time high in early March. The stock is still up 11% year-to-date (<strong>YTD</strong>). So, investors should view this as the pause that refreshes.</p>



<p>According to the recently released <em>Taking Stock With Teens</em> semi-annual survey, analysts at Piper Sandler say e.l.f. Beauty remains the <a href="https://www.pipersandler.com/teens">No. 1 cosmetics brand</a> in the country amongst female teens. The company widened its lead by 16 percentage points from last year and now commands a 38% share of the market. It is also one of the top 10 skincare brands and beauty destinations.&nbsp;</p>



<p>In addition, the survey showed the beauty market is a high priority. The average spend of $339 rose to its highest level since the spring of 2018. Analysts forecast e.l.f. Beauty will grow earnings at a compounded annual growth rate (<strong>CAGR</strong>) of 35% for the next five years. And, they have a $206 per share consensus one-year price target on the stock, implying 28% growth still to come. Thus, e.l.f. Beauty stock <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/02/3-unstoppable-sp-600-stocks-to-buy-in-february/">looks like an unstoppable force</a> no matter what month it is.</p>



<h2>Hudson Technologies (HDSN)</h2>

But don&rsquo;t let appearances fool you. This is not putting lipstick on a pig. Significant tailwinds are behind this company even if its stock price doesn&rsquo;t yet reflect them. In fact, it&rsquo;s good they don&rsquo;t show up yet because that gives investors plenty of time to get in ahead of the crowd.</p>



<p>Call it the Law of Unintended Consequences. In 1994, the Environmental Protection Agency (<strong>EPA</strong>) banned chlorofluorocarbons (<strong>CFC</strong>s), a widely used class of refrigerants that were supposedly eating a hole in the world&rsquo;s ozone later (turns out the threat was <a href="https://www.heritage.org/environment/commentary/ozone-the-hole-truth">greatly exaggerated</a>). In their place, hydrofluorocarbons (<strong>HFC</strong>s), were developed. Now the government wants them banned, too.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Four years ago the American Innovation and Manufacturing Act was passed, which phases out use of virgin HFCs. By 2038, they are to be reduced by 85%. These refrigerants are the sort used in home central air conditioning and car AC systems.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Hudson Technologies is the biggest player in the green refrigerant market with a 35% share. As the <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/04/3-under-the-radar-stocks-peter-lynch-would-love-to-invest-in/">law cuts into available supplies</a>, demand for reclaimed refrigerants will grow. HDSN stock is down 40% from the highs it hit. But don&rsquo;t expect it to last. Refrigerants are going to get scarce very quickly, making Hudson Technologies will be the main beneficiary.</p>



<h2>LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMUY)</h2>

LVMUY stock."><div>Source: Vietnam stock photos / Shutterstock</div></div><p>The hand of the government is also behind the recent decline in the stock of luxury goods maker <strong>LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton</strong> (OTCMKTS:<span><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/lvmuy-stock-quote/"><strong>LVMUY</strong></a></span>). Even the rich have their limits on how long they can maintain their spending in the face of rising inflation and high interest rates.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Shares of the owner of Luis Vuitton, Dior, Tiffany and other prestigious high-fashion names saw its stock fall 13% following first-quarter earnings after growth rapidly pulled back in difficult economic conditions. Shares that had run up 17% higher to start the new year are now only up 3%.</p>



<p><a href="https://r.lvmh-static.com/uploads/2024/04/lvmh-q1-2024.pdf">Spending in the U.S.</a>, its largest market, fell from 8% growth to 2%, while the luxury house&rsquo;s second biggest region Asia (minus Japan) went from a 14% gain last year to a 6% decline this year. Japan, though, went from strength to strength. Sales rose 34% last year and are up 32% so far in 2024.</p>



<p>Yet LVMH still has plenty of growth prospects ahead of it. The luxury goods house was going up against some difficult comparables from the year-ago period, which was its <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/04/dividend-growth-stars-7-stocks-with-10-year-double-digit-rate-hikes/">first post-pandemic-free quarter</a>. It will likely have a few more tough comparisons to get through but should resume its growth trajectory once it laps them.</p>

<p>For one, after plummeting to a low of $33.71, Roblox is exploding higher. Last trading at $40.54, if it can break above double-top resistance, it could test $43 next. </p>



<p>Two, the company is opening a&nbsp;<a href="https://seekingalpha.com/news/4097368-roblox-opens-up-new-ad-format-as-it-looks-to-build-its-ads-business">new ad format</a> as it looks for more ways to monetize its free games. That will include video ads running on virtual billboards and other screens from companies like&nbsp;<strong>e.l.f. Beauty</strong>(NYSE:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/elf-stock-quote/"><strong>ELF</strong></a>), Walmart and&nbsp;<strong>Warner Bros</strong>. (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/wbd-stock-quote/"><strong>WBD</strong></a>). By doing so, advertisers will be able to reach more than half of its 71.5 million daily active users.</p>



<p>Three, Roblox is also running on a <strong>JPMorgan</strong> upgrade, with a price target of $48.&nbsp;</p>



<p>&ldquo;The crux of our bull thesis is that we believe RBLX has a&nbsp;significant monetization opportunity ($0.06 per hour with 80% of hours not monetized) and [management&rsquo;s] focus on margin leverage, which we expect to result in FCF compounding 40%+ through 2027,&rdquo;&nbsp;<a href="https://seekingalpha.com/news/4092352-roblox-pops-on-back-of-jp-morgan-upgrade">said the firm, as quoted by Seeking Alpha</a>.</p>



<h2><strong>Roundhill Ball Metaverse ETF (METV)</strong></h2>

With an expense ratio of 0.59%, the ETF holds 38 metaverse-related holdings, all of which should benefit from the metaverse&rsquo;s potential $5 trillion impact by 2030. Some of its top holdings include <strong>Apple</strong>&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/aapl-stock-quote/"><strong>AAPL</strong></a>), Roblox, Meta Platforms,&nbsp;<strong>Nvidia</strong> (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/nvda-stock-quote/"><strong>NVDA</strong></a>),&nbsp;<strong>Unity Software</strong>&nbsp;(NYSE:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/u-stock-quote/"><strong>U</strong></a>), and&nbsp;<strong>Microsoft</strong>&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/msft-stock-quote/"><strong>MSFT</strong></a>) to name a few of them.&nbsp;</p>



<p>At the moment, the ETF trades at just under $12.50, so I can spend about $1,250 for 100 shares. And I can diversify with the fund&rsquo;s 38 holdings. Or, I can go out and just buy 100 shares of Nvidia and spend closer to $91,000.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Since bottoming out at around $7 in late 2022, the ETF exploded to a recent high of $12.49. From here, if the metaverse story can gain traction, it could double, if not triple in value&mdash;with a good deal of patience. With the METV ETF, simply buy it, forget about it, and check back in on it in a few months.</p>



<h2><strong>Unity Software (U)</strong></h2>

In fact, if you pull up a two-year chart, you can see it&rsquo;s holding and bouncing from the same support level for the seventh time since Nov. 2022. From its current price of $25.32, based on history, we&rsquo;d like to see it retest around $35 a share.</p>



<p>Helping, analysts at&nbsp;<a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/william-blair-keeps-their-buy-rating-on-unity-software-u-1033318864'">William Blair have a buy rating on the stock</a>. Analysts at Wedbush have an outperform rating on the stock, with a price target of $33.50.&nbsp;</p>



<p>And, as noted by&nbsp;<a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/05/shhh-3-secret-metaverse-stocks-flying-below-wall-streets-radar/"><em>Investorplace</em> contributor Jeremy Flint</a>, &ldquo;Unity generates positive cash flow through a substantial advertising network. The ability to generate profit bolsters Unity&rsquo;s stability amid broader market volatility, sustaining the company until metaverse investments garner broader institutional appeal.&rdquo;</p>



<p>Much like the METV ETF, buy Unity Software, forget about it, and check back in on it in a few months. I&rsquo;d like to see this one double, with patience.</p>

The stock is up by 35% year-to-date and has soared by 149% over the past five years. Investors can scoop up shares at a 27 P/E ratio and receive a 0.43% yield. Meta Platforms&rsquo; dividend is in the middle of its first year and currently stands at&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.cnbc.com/2024/02/01/meta-is-paying-first-ever-dividend-authorizes-50-billion-buyback.html">$0.50 per share</a>.</p>



<p>The dividend isn&rsquo;t the only thing that&rsquo;s getting investors excited. Meta Platforms reported 27% year-over-year revenue growth in&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://s21.q4cdn.com/399680738/files/doc_financials/2024/q1/Meta-03-31-2024-Exhibit-99-1_FINAL.pdf">Q1&nbsp;2024</a>&nbsp;while net income more than doubled compared to the same period last year. Despite having billions of users, more people continue to create accounts on Meta Platforms&rsquo; family of apps. Total users increased by 7% year-over-year&nbsp;which&nbsp;will help the company generate additional advertising revenue.</p>



<p>Meta Platforms has done a good job of growing its revenue while trimming its costs. The company reduced its headcount by 10% year-over-year and&nbsp;currently&nbsp;has 69,329 employees.</p>



<h2><strong>Duolingo (DUOL)</strong></h2>

Learning a new language can help someone communicate with&nbsp;their&nbsp;friends or prepare for an upcoming vacation. Millions of consumers have turned to&nbsp;<strong>Duolingo</strong>&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/duol-stock-quote/"><strong>DUOL</strong></a>) to learn new languages, and it&rsquo;s certainly been a boon for investors.</p>



<p>The educational tech company&nbsp;is up&nbsp;by 89% over the past year. While there are reasonable valuation concerns &mdash; the stock has a P/E ratio north of 700 &mdash; rising profit margins and continued financial growth can minimize those concerns for long-term investors.</p>



<p>Beyond the valuation, Duolingo looks compelling, especially when looking at&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://investors.duolingo.com/static-files/f456546b-5c18-4e4b-966d-59534089ef02">Q4 2023 results</a>. Revenue grew by 45% year-over-year while net income turned positive. Duolingo has been expanding its profit margins considerably in recent quarters, and that trend should continue.</p>



<p>High user base activity accompanied stellar revenue growth.&nbsp;The app closed the quarter with 26.9 million daily active users and 88.4 million monthly active users. These figures were up by&nbsp;65% and 46%&nbsp;year-over-year&nbsp;respectively.&nbsp;</p>



<h2><strong>ServiceNow (NOW)</strong></h2>

Many clients&nbsp;come to&nbsp;rely on ServiceNow due to its incredible features and the difficulty of switching to an alternative. These factors have resulted in a&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.servicenow.com/content/dam/servicenow-assets/public/en-us/doc-type/other-document/servicenow-fact-sheet.pdf">98% renewal rate</a>&nbsp;for the firm.</p>



<p>Generative AI has been fueling more demand for ServiceNow&rsquo;s platform.&nbsp;Existing customers are also leaving&nbsp;up&nbsp;their subscriptions. This development has resulted in 1,933 customers with annual contract values&nbsp;that exceed&nbsp;$1 million. The firm also has a few contracts&nbsp;that exceed&nbsp;$5 million per year.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Financial growth has been a constant for the company. Revenue increased by 24% year-over-year in&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.servicenow.com/company/media/press-room/first-quarter-2024-financial-results.html">Q1&nbsp;2024</a>&nbsp;while net income jumped by 131% year-over-year. Profit margins are expanding, and so is the stock. Shares are up by 62% over the past year and have soared by 159% over the past five years. The stock currently trades at a 76 P/E ratio.&nbsp;</p>



<h2><strong>Elf Beauty (ELF)</strong></h2>

However, the company doesn&rsquo;t sacrifice quality either. Elf Beauty has found a way to make quality products that don&rsquo;t involve animal cruelty&nbsp;for&nbsp;ingredient sourcing.</p>



<p>Shares are up&nbsp;by&nbsp;17% year-to-date and have gained more than 1,000% over the past five years. Revenue growth hasn&rsquo;t been a problem as the company recently reported 85% year-over-year sales growth in&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://investor.elfbeauty.com/news-and-events/press-releases/landing-news/2024/02-06-2024-210530133">Q3 FY24</a>. GAAP net income came to $26.9 million in the quarter which was 41% higher than the same period last year.</p>



<p>Beauty products can continue to perform well during economic slowdowns.&nbsp;People&nbsp;often tend to smaller luxuries&nbsp;during recessions to&nbsp;forget about their financial struggles&nbsp;for a little. This phenomenon is known as the&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.investopedia.com/terms/l/lipstick-effect.asp">lipstick effect</a>. Q3 FY24 marked Elf Beauty&rsquo;s 20th consecutive quarter of sales growth, and it&rsquo;s likely that this streak&nbsp;continues into&nbsp;several years.</p>



<h2><strong>American Express (AXP)</strong></h2>

The stock trades at a 19 P/E ratio and offers a 1.19% yield. Growing interest from Millennials and Gen Z consumers should help the stock gain more ground.&nbsp;In&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://s26.q4cdn.com/747928648/files/doc_financials/2024/q1/Q1-2024-Earnings-Press-Release.pdf">Q1 2024</a>, more than 60% of American&nbsp;Express&rsquo;&nbsp;new customers were from one of those&nbsp;two&nbsp;cohorts.</p>



<p>That wasn&rsquo;t the only highlight from the firm&rsquo;s&nbsp;first quarter&nbsp;results. Revenue increased by 11% year-over-year&nbsp;while&nbsp;net income jumped by 34% year-over-year. These metrics support the company&rsquo;s multi-year growth plans. American Express aims to achieve 9% to 11% year-over-year revenue growth and mid-teens EPS growth beyond 2026. Those reasonable growth objectives can&nbsp;point to&nbsp;big&nbsp;gains due to the low valuation.</p>



<p>American Express trades at a discount relative to its peers. Most credit card giants trade at P/E ratios above 30%.&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.fxempire.com/forecasts/article/big-money-buying-up-american-express-shares-1428154">Smart money is flowing into the stock</a>, and it may be a good idea to join them before the next rally.</p>



<h2><strong>Walmart (WMT)</strong></h2>

Walmart also has a competitive moat in the retail industry and is well-known for offering affordable products.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Those advantages&nbsp;translated&nbsp;into 5.7% year-over-year revenue growth in the&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://s201.q4cdn.com/262069030/files/doc_earnings/2024/q4/earnings-result/Earnings-Release-2024-Q4.pdf">fourth quarter of fiscal 2024</a>. E-commerce was up&nbsp;by&nbsp;23% year-over-year&nbsp;while&nbsp;the budding advertising segment reported 33% year-over-year revenue growth. Walmart CEO Doug McMillon expressed excitement about the company&rsquo;s e-commerce sales. He mentioned that the company improved its customer experience metric during its highest volume days leading up to the holidays.</p>



<p>The stock has outperformed the broader market with a 14% year-to-date gain. Shares are also up by 78%&nbsp;over the past five years. Analysts like what they&rsquo;re seeing and have rated the stock as a &ldquo;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.tipranks.com/stocks/wmt/forecast">Strong Buy</a>.&rdquo; The average price target suggests&nbsp;that the stock has&nbsp;a projected 9% upside.</p>



<h2><strong>Alphabet (GOOG, GOOGL)</strong></h2>

<p>This attention resulted in solid financials for the&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.abc.xyz/assets/91/b3/3f9213d14ce3ae27e1038e01a0e0/2024q1-alphabet-earnings-release-pdf.pdf">first quarter of 2024</a>. Revenue increased by 15% year-over-year&nbsp;while&nbsp;net income jumped by 57% year-over-year.&nbsp;Google Cloud is becoming a&nbsp;bigger&nbsp;contributor&nbsp;and now makes&nbsp;up more than 10% of the company&rsquo;s total revenue.</p>



<p>Analysts are getting bullish&nbsp;in a hurry, especially with the new dividend.&nbsp;The stock is rated as a &ldquo;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.tipranks.com/stocks/googl/forecast">Strong Buy</a>&rdquo; with a projected 11% upside. Some price targets suggest Alphabet can comfortably exceed $200/share within a few months. The highest price target of $225 per share suggests a 31% upside from current levels.</p>



<p>Alphabet has been outpacing&nbsp;for&nbsp;market for several years.&nbsp;Shares are up by&nbsp;24% year-to-date and have nearly tripled over the past five years.</p>
