It was that time again where I mulled through the Top Performers People&Picks portfolio picks.

My objective was to find their recent stock picks, added since July 15, still in active status, and showing at least a 10% gain, and with potential greater gain. I also wanted individual stocks, eliminating ETFs. In times past, this has led me to buying winners.

I checked each portfolio of the top 20 performers. As expected, some of the ‘performers' were dormant or not active at all. Some were very active. Interestingly, 9 of the 20 top performers did not have any active stock picks with a 10% or better gain. I know that some play the ‘game' for nibble 1 or 2% gains and then close the pick.

After entering the stock picks on a watch list, I used downloaded software to review them on various charts depicting various technical data. I then grouped them into four categories using my selective technical criteria. I build a second watch list using my technical top two categories. This brought the number of stock picks to 16. I then researched each stock.

EyePhone and Zaphod appeared to be the best at picking the best movers. Zaphod was the best in picking very recent stocks that moved 10% or better.

Here are the best of the best within the universe of the PP Top Performers. These stocks have performed the best in the short term and in my criteria/opinion are the best going forward. They are not being recommended at these prices. That is up to you. These STOCKS GET IT. Given my time, I may write a post on my further analysis on why these stocks were selected the ‘stocks that get it'.

Craft Brewing Co. (HOOK) (date entered, 8/20 at 6.00, current 8.05) Craft Brewing Co. is above it's 20, 50, 200MA and it's a buyout play. Recent daily volume way up from average daily volume. The float is also diminishing. Someone wants in big time. The shorts think this is a pump n dump. Do you consider taking a swig of this?

Opentable (OPEN)(date entered 7/21 at 44.75, current 56.55) Opentable is in Restaurent management solutions software.

Valeant Pharma (VRX) (entered by EyePhone on 8/25, up 12% since) Even when Pharm was out of favor, this stock continued to kick. The stock is fundamentally solid, technically strong and considered an undervalued mid caps. P/E below industry average, profit margin above industry average, P/S below industry average, RoE above industry average. Not many stocks meet this criteria.

Netflix (NFLX) (Entered by Ktoyou on 8/26, up 16% since) Institutional favorite.

Chipotle (CMG) (Entered by OnIslandTrader on 7/26, up 14% since) Top fast-food company.
