Aspect Medical Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: ASPM) is the top percentage gainers in morning trade and surged among 55% today to $11.90 on unusual volume of 4.68 million shares after a wholly owned subsidiary of Covidien will pay $12.00 in cash per Aspect share for a total of approximately $210 million, net of cash and short-term investments acquired.

GenTek Inc. (NASDAQ: GETI)  rallied 40% on 669K shares and now trades at $37.76  after it entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by ASP GT Acquisition Corp. Under the terms of the merger agreement, ASP will commence a tender offer to purchase for cash all of the outstanding shares of GenTek common stock at a price of $38.00 per share. The transaction is valued at $673 million consisting of equity value of approximately $411 million plus the assumption of net debt and similar liabilities of approximately $262 million.

Luna Innovations Incorporated (NASDAQ: LUNA) is also moving higher by 38% to $37.61 on 4.17  million shares  on no news. So far in the last 5 trading sessions the stock has shown a massive run up of over 400%.

Tri-Valley Corporation (AMEX: TIV) soared 30% now trades at $2.19 on an unusual volume of 1.05 million shares on no news. So far in the last three months the stock has jumped up over 80%.
