VANCOUVER, BC, MEDIA ADVISORY--(Marketwire - Aug. 18, 2009) - The Union of BC Indian Chiefs will hold a press conference in Vancouver on the morning of Thursday, August 20th in response to the death of Curtis Brick.
On the afternoon of July 29, 2009, one of the hottest days ever recorded in Vancouver, Curtis Black, a homeless Aboriginal man, was found in obvious physical distress in Vancouver's Grandview Park. Eyewitnesses have provided details suggesting that Curtis may have been exposed to the heat for the entire day. This unfolding tragedy was made worse when Vancouver Fire Department and BC Ambulance personnel arrived on-scene and showed little compassion nor concern for Curtis.
