UPS Issues Strong Earnings And Outlook UPS

United Parcel Service (NYSE: UPS) reported earnings this morning and many investors were looking at this report for an indication of the relative health of the global economy. The Atlanta-based company reported Q4 net income of $757 million, or 76 cents per share, compared with $254 million, or 25 cents per share, in the year ago period.

Revenues came in at $12.5 billion which was a slight decline from last year. Wall Street was looking for EPS of 71 cents per share on revenue of $12.2 billion, so UPS beat estimates on both metrics. Looking ahead, UPS said that they anticipate full year 2010 earnings of $2.70 to $3.05, which was within the range of analysts' expectations. On the day UPS is 0.83% higher to $43.62.
