U.S. Equity Movers & Shakers: (HS, HUM, UNH, ENDP, AIG)

Bloomberg reported that the following companies’ stocks showed unusual movement in early morning trading today. Prices are as of 11 a.m., New York time.

Humana, Inc. (NYSE: HUM) gained 3.6% to $46.97.

Healthspring, Inc. (NYSE: HS) rose 3.7% to $18.66.

UnitedHealth Group Inc. (NYSE: UNH) climbed 2.4% to $32.71.

American International Group, Inc. (NYSE: AIG) increased 7% to $28.38, after rising to $28.75 earlier.AIG is expected to report results next week showing that underwriting has aligned more with the industry in Q4.

Endo Pharmaceuticals Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: ENDP) gained 6.6% to $21.96.It reported Q4 profit, and sales beating analysts’ estimates.

Evergreen Solar, Inc. (NASDAQ: ESLR) lost 3.1% to $1.22. GlaxoSmithKline Plc (ADR)(NYSE: GSK) fell 2.2% to $37.43, after sinking earlier to $37.20, the lowest intraday price since July 17, as a study showed that its diabetes drug Avandia has possible links to heart damage.

Graco, Inc. (NYSE: GGG) lost 4.8% to $26.57, after dropping as much as 5.3%, the most it has dropped in intraday trading since June 22. Green Plains Renewable Energy, Inc.

(NASDAQ: GPRE) increased 13% to $15.94. The company reported Q4 earnings of 91 cents per share compared with a loss of 8 cents a year earlier.

H&R Block, Inc. (NYSE: HRB) decreased 5.3% to $20, after sliding as much as 5.8%, the most intraday since April 9.

Pacer International, Inc. (NASDAQ: PACR) jumped 12% to $4.54. It was upgraded to “buy” from “hold” by BB&T Capital Markets.

PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. (NYSE: PNC) rose 2.7% to $53.07. It was raised to “outperform” from “market perform” at Bernstein Research, which said the company faces fewer regulatory risks than larger U.S. banks.

Quanta Services, Inc. (NYSE: PWR) registered the highest increase in the S& P 500 (SPX), climbing 7.8% to $19.28. It forecasts earnings of $1.06 per share this year, compared to a consensus profit of 95 cents, according to a Bloomberg survey. Schlumberger Ltd.

(NYSE: SLB) fell 5.8% to $60.20, the biggest fall in the S&P 500, while Smith International (NYSE: SII) gained 6.5% to $40.13.

Skyworks Solutions Inc. (NASDAQ: SWKS) rose 4.5% to $15.24. It was raised to “buy” from “hold” by Deutsche Bank AG (NYSE: DB), as it is gaining market share with handset, and smart-phone vendors. Vishay Intertechnology, Inc.

(NYSE: VSH) was the biggest loser in the Russell 1000 Index, sliding 7.1% to $9.62. It was cut to “market-weight” from “overweight” by Thomas Weisel Partners.
