Among the small cap names that are surging today are Adeona Pharmaceuticals (AMEX: AEN), which has gained 32.11% to $2.51, Ecosphere Technologies (OTC:ESPH), up 6.36%, and Encorium Group (NASDAQ: ENCO), which has surged 91% to $4.03.

Adeona (AEN) is a development stage, specialty pharmaceutical company that is developing late-stage drug candidates for the treatment of opththalmic, neurologic and autoimmune diseases. According to recent press releases, the company is focusing on treatments for central nervous systems diseases and has achieved significant progress in the testing of some of its new drugs and therapies. Adeona has a market cap of only $53.69 million, so the shares are very speculative.

Ecosphere Technologies (OTC:ESPH) has climbed over 1000% over the last 52 weeks. The shares are trading at $1.84 during the current session. Volume in the name has been heavy at nearly three times the average. Today's pop in the stock is attributable to an article which appeared in this morning's Wall Street Journal, titled, "Firms See 'Green' in Natural-Gas Production -- Environmental Concerns Over Drilling Drive Producers to Seek Alternative Technology, Creating Business Opportunities."

Ecosphere Technologies CEO Dennis McGuire stated, "We are excited that the Wall Street Journal has recognized our effort to address environmental concerns with respect to hydraulic fracing in the natural gas industry. We believe that this article represents further validation of our disruptive technology and its 'green' impact on the energy field."

Ecosphere Technologies, Inc. (Ecosphere) is a diversified water engineering and services company dedicated to solving critical water recovery, treatment and recycling challenges.

Encorium Group (ENCO), has more than doubled today, moving $2.11 higher to $4.20. This is a very tiny company, with a market cap of only $13.89 million. There does not appear to be any company specific news out on the stock, but message board posters are attributing the move to momentum traders right now. Encorium Group, Inc. is a clinical research organization, which is engaged in the design and management of clinical trials for the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries.
