Trichet & Kahn To Address German Lawmakers (RBS)
European Central Bank President, Jean-Claude Trichet, is in Berlin to persuade Germany to bail out Greece. According to BusinessWeek, Trichet and International Monetary Fund Managing Director, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, will hold talks with German parliamentary leaders in Berlin and would discuss the $60 billion rescue deal for Greece.
Jacques Cailloux, chief European economist at Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc (ADR) (NYSE: RBS), said, “The lawmakers probably need it spelled out that this is not about financing luxury pensions in Greece. Not helping Greece will unfortunately have a direct impact on the euro-area economy and German jobs.”
