After Monday's closing bell, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) reported a fiscal fourth-quarter profit of $1.67 billion, or $1.82 a share, on revenue of $9.87 billion. During the same period a year ago, Apple earned $1.14 billion, or $1.26 a share on $7.9 billion in sales. Apple's results topped the estimates of analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters, who had forecast on average that the company would earn $1.42 a share on revenue of $9.2 billion.
Providence Service Corp. (NASDAQ: PRSC) 7.9% HIGHER; sees Q3 EPS of $0.20-$0.22, versus the consensus of $0.18, on sales of about $207 million, versus the Street estimate of $197.11 million. It sees Q4 EPS of $0.33-$0.35, versus the consensus of $0.34.
Volterra Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: VLTR) reports Q3 non-GAAP EPS of $0.19, versus the analyst estimate of $0.20. Revenue for the quarter was $29.7 million, which compares to the estimate of $29.70 million
SolarWinds Inc. (NYSE: SWI) reports Q3 EPS of $0.17, 2 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.15. Revenue for the quarter was $32.4 million, which compares to the estimate of $31.08 million. Sees Q4 EPS of $0.15-$0.16, cons $0.16. It sees Q4 sales of $32.8-$34.2 million, versus the consensus of $33.18 million.
IMS Health, Inc. (NYSE: RX) is in advanced discussions with private-equity firms to sell itself, The Wall Street Journal reported just before yesterday’s closing bell, citing unnamed source. Shares of IMS soared about 21.61% to $17.84 after the report.
