Wikimedia Commons, a resource for free-use media either those within the public domain or freely-licensed, is used with regularity by journalists.

However, while past searches for President-elect Donald Trump within the media file repository have been fruitful, Tuesday's provided an interesting result:

Where previously there were countless images and sub-pages of specific results for the president-elect, the new results page is completely void of images, only stating "{ | lolololol."

Trump has a history of commenting upon images of his likeness. Earlier this month, Trump was said to have targeted NBC News for "not feature[ing] nice photos of him." The comment comes courtesy of an anonymous source to Politico, and the issue was covered by Huffington Post, among others.

A representative for Wikimedia Commons toild Benzinga in an email:

The gallery page for Donald Trump on Wikimedia Commons was vandalized earlier today as can be seen in the revision history of the page. The vandalism was reverted by another volunteer editor shortly after, and the page was temporarily semi-protected so that only autoconfirmed Wikimedia accounts (accounts that are more than four days old) can edit the page. Editors aim to leave as many pages open to public editing as possible, but semi-protecting an article or page is a common practice among editors to limit public editing when vandalism does occur.

Vandalism is a violation of the trust and good faith of Wikimedia editors and readers. It runs contrary to the values of reliability and neutrality on which the Wikimedia projects are based. Though vandalism does occur from time to time on the Wikimedia projects, the vast majority is reverted quickly by volunteer editors. We find that the overwhelming majority of people who contribute to the Wikimedia projects do so in good faith with the intent of improving and expanding content on the Wikimedia sites.
