Following a lengthy break due to a writers’ strike, broadcast network late-night TV hosts have made their return. Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, and Seth Meyers all returned to our screens, injecting their unique humor into five months’ worth of news.
As reported by Oregon Live, the hosts, known for their news-centric monologues and political humor, took jibes at various topics. Former president Donald Trump’s indictments, Taylor Swift‘s alleged romance with NFL star Travis Kelce, and U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert’s reported misbehavior at a Denver “Beetlejuice” musical were amongst the popular subjects.
Despite the ongoing actors’ strike, the shows featured guests such as Matthew McConaughey, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, who took the opportunity to promote their latest books.
Trump, in particular, was a common thread in the shows’ monologues. Seth Meyers’ show, for instance, devoted its entire running time to an extended version of “A Closer Look,” a feature that humorously tackles current events, politicians, and public figures.
The late-night shows’ return follows the recent comebacks of HBO’s “Real Time With Bill Maher” and “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver.”
Viewers can stream these shows on platforms like Paramount Plus, Fubo, DirecTV Stream, Peacock, and Hulu.
