US Stock-Index Futures Gaining
With the US stock-index futures gaining more points, there is a possibility of Standard & Poor’s 500 Index extending the winning streak that has been continuing for the past couple of months. The markets have been gaining on the signs of recovery in the global economy.
Rising gold and crude prices have pushed the share price of the biggest US oil company, Exxon Mobil Corp (NYSE: XOM), and the world’s largest producer of precious metal, Barrick Gold Corp (NYSE: ABX). While futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average Index added 0.1% to 10,474, Nasdaq-100 Index futures moved up 0.4% to 1,874.50. Meanwhile, S&P 500 futures expiring in March were up 0.2% to 1,123.90.
However, with the New Year holiday shortening the trading week, volumes are expected to be low.
