U.S. Equity Markets Mixed Today

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is leading the widely watched U.S. equity indexes today, notching a 45 point gain going into the last hour of trading. The S&P 500 is also higher and could continue its perfect streak of positive days in 2010 if it finishes up the day in the green.

The Nasdaq market, however is trending about 6 points lower as the sell off in large cap tech names continues at the beginning of 2010. Popular tech stocks such as Google (NASDAQ: GOOG), Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL), and Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) are all down on the day in what appears to be widespread profit taking as traders lock in last year's substantial gains in these names.
