Sector Performance For The Year (CHK, SU, PDS, TRB)

As the year winds up, I thought I would take a look at the sector performance for the oil and oil services names for 2010. The exploration and production names like Chesapeake CHK, Barnwell Industries, Inc. BRN, Carrizo Oil & Gas, Inc. CRZO and Brigham Exploration Company BEXP rose 15% so far in 2010. The integrated names, like Suncor SU rose 14.5% this year. Oil equipment & services names rose the most this year, gaining 25%. This includes names like Schlumberger SLB and Flowserve FLS. Pipelines were the second best performing group in 2010, gaining 23% so far year to date. Enbridge Inc. (USA) ENB is a prime example of the pipeline group.
