Google Bard Turns To Microsoft Bing For Answers: 'How Many Pens Can Fit In Burj Khalifa?'

Alphabet Inc.’s GOOG GOOGL Bard seems to have taken help from Microsoft Corporation’s MSFT Bing Chat — and it begs the question, are the tables finally turning?

What Happened: A Reddit user named anmar609 on the platform shared screenshots of his conversation with Google’s Bard.

The conversation was pretty simple yet chaotic as the Redditor wanted to know — how many pens can fit in Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest skyscraper, which is 2,723 feet, almost double the height of the Empire State Building.

Bard initially took a safe bet but then answered, “It would take an infinite number of pens to fill Burj Khalifa.”

When pressed further, it said, “There are not enough pens in the world” to fill the skyscraper.

When the Redditor continued to press Bard and brought up the answer they received from Bing Chat for the same question, Google’s chatbot quickly changed the answer.

It said, “Approximately 2.2 billion pens can fit in the Burj Khalifa.”

The chatbot further revealed, “I got the information from Bing AI.”

Why It’s Important: Google and Microsoft have long been tech rivals. In September last year, Google’s legal representative informed the EU that the tech behemoth is so successful that it is the most frequently searched term on Bing

Previously, Dogecoin co-founder Billy Markus, popularly known as Shibetoshi Nakamoto, said that Microsoft’s search engine, Bing, is finally “becoming relevant after 13 years of being completely pointless” on the back of a $10 billion investment
