Now, ZDNet reports that thermal imaging scans confirm that the iPhone 15 Pro runs far cooler now. The tests after the update show that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max now run at cooler temperatures during fast charging.
Since the launch of the iPhone 15 Pro, users have reported the device becoming excessively hot during fast-charging or when using specific third-party apps.
After maintaining silence for over a week, on Sept. 30, Apple attributed the overheating to a software glitch that was not connected to the new hardware or design of the iPhone 15 Pro models.
Prior to the update, the iPhone 15 Pro Max could reach temperatures as high as 118 degrees Fahrenheit, and as much as 107.1 degrees Fahrenheit during fast-charging.
Post-update testing showed a significant decrease in temperature, with the device not exceeding 93.8 degrees Fahrenheit during fast charging.
Why It Matters: Initial benchmarks using the iPhone 15 Pro suggest that there is no noticeable decline in performance of the post-update, suggesting that the overheating issue was indeed a bug in the iOS 17 software.
Benzinga ran the test and can independently confirm that there is no noticeable change in performance, averting a possible Titanium Gate crisis.
