Microsoft's New AI Tools Set to Transform Healthcare Data Management

Microsoft Corp MSFT showcased new data and AI tools designed to assist healthcare organizations in efficiently managing and analyzing the vast amounts of data they collect.

The healthcare and life sciences sector generates over 30% of the world’s data, but a significant portion remains untapped due to its dispersion across various systems and formats.

Microsoft’s announcement at the HLTH conference in Las Vegas introduced healthcare-specific tools in Fabric, a data and analytics platform launched in May.

These tools aim to consolidate data from diverse sources, including electronic health records and medical devices, facilitating easier access and analysis, CNBC reports.

Microsoft tested Fabric with select healthcare providers like Northwestern Medicine and SingHealth. Doug King, CIO at Northwestern Medicine, expressed optimism about the platform’s potential to enhance care quality and efficiency by centralizing disparate data sources.

He anticipates that comprehensive data access will address significant challenges in healthcare, from operational efficiency to patient care quality.

Additionally, Microsoft introduced new tools within its Azure AI services. The Azure AI Health Bot, a generative AI chatbot, can access information from internal and reputable external sources to assist staff and patients with queries.

Text Analytics for health can extract crucial medical information from unstructured data sources in multiple languages. Azure AI Health Insights includes three new models to aid healthcare professionals in decision-making, offering a consolidated view of a patient’s medical history, simplifying complex clinical reports, and identifying inconsistencies in radiology reports.

Price Action: MSFT shares traded lower by 0.30% at $328.83 on the last check Tuesday.
