What Happened: The first images of an alleged initial-stage prototype battery for the iPhone 16 Pro were leaked on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by well-known leaker Kosutami.
The leaked battery, which boasts a capacity of 3,355 mAh, demonstrates a slight power increase compared to the 3,274 mAh battery found in the iPhone 15 Pro. This new design showcases a metal shell in contrast to Apple’s conventional foil battery wrapping.

This innovative battery design could significantly enhance heat dissipation, offering a solution to the reported overheating issues with the iPhone 15 Pro.
Nevertheless, it remains uncertain whether this battery will be included in the final product, considering that the iPhone 16 Pro’s launch is expected to be a year from now. This prototype could indicate a significant transformation in Apple’s battery technology if incorporated.
Since Kosutami has accurately leaked Apple-related developments in the past, this adds to the credibility of the recent leak.
Apple is said to be developing a hardware solution for its forthcoming iPhone 16 model, which would include the integration of a graphene heat sink and a metal battery casing. The use of metal is expected to enhance heat dissipation, thereby addressing the overheating issues.
