GenVec, Inc. (NASDAQ: GNVC) increased 5.58% to $2.42 in the pre-market session. GenVec announced today a new contract with the Department of Homeland Security to continue the development of adenovector-based vaccines against foot-and-mouth disease. The 52-week trading range for GNVC is $0.35 - $3.34. In the last six months, GenVec has gained over 208%.

Novavax, Inc. (NASDAQ: NVAX) climbed 3.31% to $2.50 after Novavax today presented to the world's leading pandemic influenza vaccine experts a summary of the recent preliminary safety and immunogenicity data from its Pivotal 2009 A/H1N1 VLP pandemic influenza vaccine study in Mexico. In the previous trading session, Novavax closed at $2.42. NVAX has surged over 65% in the last year.

Shire Plc. (ADR) (NASDAQ: SHPGY) jumped 5.40% to $64.25 in the pre-market session after Shire plc announced that for the first quarter of 2010, it expects total revenues and Non GAAP diluted earnings per ADS to be lower than the same period in fiscal 2009. The 52-week trading range for SHPGY is $31.66 - $62.24. Shire Plc. (ADR) closed at $60.96 in the last trading session.

Fuel Systems Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ: FSYS) moved up 9.71% to $33 after Fuel Systems announced that it now expects full year 2009 revenue to be around $450 million, as compared to prior estimates of $415 million - $425 million. Analysts had expected FSYS to report revenues of $426.02 million for fiscal 2009. The 52-week trading range for FSYS is $9.83 - $52.53. Fuel Systems Solutions has gained over 19% in the last year.

J.C. Penney Company, Inc. (NYSE: JCP) surged 4.62% to $27.16 in the pre-market session. J. C. Penney reported today a fourth-quarter earnings of $200 million, or $0.84 per share, as compared to $211 million, or $0.95 per share, in the year ago period. Sales were $5.55 billion from $5.76 billion for the same quarter last year. Analysts had expected JCP to report earnings of $0.91 per share. In the last trading session, J.C. Penney closed at $25.96.
