Faster than a speeding bullet, word is spreading that the super-chic dwelling of the mild-mannered Clark Kent and his alter ego Superman is on the market for $5.9 million.
The seller purchased the four-bedroom, 3½-bath condo for $5.27 million in 2021, according to the New York Post.
While Kent and the superhero are fictional, the apartment on the fifth floor of the Standish Arms Apartments in Brooklyn Heights, New York, is real. The apartment is frequently mentioned in the DC Comic books and is featured in a TV episode when the Rope Burglar breaks into Clark Kent's apartment and steals his Superman costume.
The 2,400-square-foot condominium is listed by Paolo Sciarra and Spencer Means of Compass. It has an expansive open floor plan with a 41-foot-long living and dining area; a gourmet kitchen with Shaker-style cabinetry, Bertazzoni Italia and Bosch appliances and Fantini fixtures in natural brass; Austrian white oak hardwood floors; bathrooms equipped with rain showers, travertine and mosaic accents and free-standing tubs.
Building amenities include a gym, 24-hour security, a children's playroom, original prewar design details and a private rooftop terrace with views even X-ray vision can't beat.
The 12-story Beaux-Arts building, which dates to 1903, has 32 units, with a few occupied by celebrities like Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana Barroso, and their four children and John Krasinski ("The Office" and "Jack Ryan"), his wife, Emily Blunt ("The Devil Wears Prada") and their two children.
Created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster in Cleveland, Ohio, Superman has become one of the best-known characters in the world. National Publications released its first issue of Action Comics highlighting a superhero named Superman on April 18, 1938, at the height of the Great Depression.
