Valassis posted Q1 earnings of $0.57 per share versus $0.52 estimates. The company reaffirmed its 2011 guidance. 4) Carbo Ceramics CRR: Trading up 16.4% from yesterday's close to $164.51. Carbo announced better-than-expected Q1 earnings. The company stated that it was the best quarter in its history. 5) Pacer International PACR: Trading up 15.5% from yesterday's close to $5.90. Pacer reported better-than-expected Q1 results. The company posted earnings per share of $0.06 versus estimates of $0.02. Pacer was upgraded from Sell to Hold by S&P Equity Research. Worst 1) Sino Clean Energy SCEI: Trading down 23% from yesterday's close to $2.14. In response to online allegations regarding the company's operations, Sino Clean announced that it will be issuing a shareholder letter addressing each accusation. The letter will be available on the company's website. 2) Officemax OMX: Trading down 19.2% from yesterday's close to $10.09. Officemax reported disappointing earnings this morning. Ravi Saligram, Officemax CEO, stated he was “very disappointed” with Q1 results. The company noted a substantial cut in its domestic contract business, low growth for its domestic retail stores, and tightening margins as reasons for the weak performance. 3) Harte-Hanks HHS: Trading down 18.4% from yesterday's close to $9.73. Harte-Hanks reported disappointing earnings before the bell today. Q1 earnings came in at $0.12 per share versus estimates of $0.17 per share. 4) 3D Systems TDSC: Trading down 16% from yesterday's close to $43.56. 3D Systems reported earnings of $0.28 cents per share. Year-over-year revenue grew by 51% and year-over-year gross profit grew by 62%. The company announced a two-for-one stock split for common stock holders of record as of May 9th, 2011. 5) Akamai Technologies AKAM: Trading down 14.7% from yesterday's close to $34.95.
