U.S. Equity Movers & Shakers: (C, CSTR,OMX, TLB)
Bloomberg reported unusual share price movement for the following companies in early trading today.
Citigroup, Inc. (NYSE: C) rose 3% to $3.41. Paulson & Co. increased its stake in Citigroup, and sold shares in Bank of America Corp. (NYSE: BAC) in Q4.
Coinstar, Inc. (NASDAQ: CSTR), owner of Redbox movie-rental kiosks, increased 10% to $29.84. Brigantine Advisors raised its rating to “buy” from “hold”.
Deere & Co. (NYSE: DE) rose 6.8% to $57.42. The world’s largest maker of farm equipment posted a better-than-expected Q1 profit. It also raised its 2010 forecast as raw material costs decreased.
Discovery Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: DISCA) increased 8.9% to $31.50. S&P said that it will replace Pepsi Bottling Group, Inc. in the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index.
Healthways, Inc. (NASDAQ: HWAY), which provides disease-management services, dropped 3.1% to $15.59. It forecast 2010 adjusted earnings of $1.05 to $1.18 per share, missing a few analyst expectations.
Navistar International Corp. (NYSE: NAV), manufacturer of International-brand trucks, surged 4.4% to $41.46. The DoD awarded a $751.5 million contract to Navistar.
OfficeMax, Inc. (NYSE: OMX), the U.S. office supply company, gained 4.6% to $15.41. It posted a Q4 adjusted loss of 3 cents per share, beating analyst expectations of a loss of 7 cents.
Pacer International, Inc. (NASDAQ: PACR), which provides trucking, freight and transportation logistics services, surged 9.2% to $3.31. It reported an adjusted profit of 35 cents per share in Q4, where as analyst estimated a loss of 7 cents.
Rick’s Cabaret International, Inc. (NASDAQ: RICK), owner of adult nightclubs, decreased 5.9% to $12.13. It has entered into an agreement to buy VCG Holding Corp. (NASDAQ: VCGH).
SanDisk Corp. (NASDAQ: SNDK), the biggest maker of flash-memory cards for digital cameras and mobile phones, increased 3.4% to $28.26. Morgan Stanley raised its rating to “overweight” from “equalweight”.
Talbots, Inc. (NYSE: TLB) rose 3.7% to $11.59. The U.S. clothing chain reported a decline of 4% in Q4 sales, bettering its own previous forecast of 6% to 8%.
ValueClick, Inc. (NASDAQ: VCLK) , the internet advertising company, fell 5.2% to $8.66. It forecast Q1 adjusted earnings of 16 cents per share at most, trailing the average analyst estimate of 22 cents.
Whole Foods, Inc. (NASDAQ: WFMI), the largest U.S. natural-goods grocer, rose 8.5% to $33.10. It increased its adjusted earnings forecast to $1.20 per share, this fiscal year.
