Lennar Corporation (NYSE: LEN) is expected to post a fiscal third-quarter loss of 46 cents a share, according to analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters. In the previous trading session, the stock closed at 416.54.
Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE: WMT) the world’s largest retailer, was initiated with an “overweight” recommendation and a price estimate of $61 at HSBC Holdings Plc, according to an e-mailed report.
Potash Corp./Saskatchewan (USA) (NYSE: POT) slipped 4% to $93.20 after the world’s largest producer of the namesake crop nutrient reduced its earnings forecast because of lower demand. Profit this year will be $3.25 to $3.75 a share instead of the previous forecast of $4 to $5, the company said. The new forecast missed analysts’ estimates.
General Electric Company (NYSE: GE) Executives believe Vivendi will exercise its right later this year to sell its stake in NBC Universal, a step that could lead to GE’s NBC Universal unit being spun off into a separate public company in 2010, the New York Times said, citing people briefed on the matter.
