Citibank/Citigroup (NYSE: C) CEO, Vikram Pandit, says that Citi will eventually sell its remaining stake in its Smith Barney brokerage venture to Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS), which currently owns the other half.
General Electric Company (NYSE: GE) rose 1.27% to $16.71 on massive volume of 54.08 million shares as Morgan Stanley analyst Scott R. Davis said concerns over the size of losses in the company's financing arm, known as GECS or GE Capital Services, has kept the share price lower than it should be. Davis raised his share price target to $19 from $17, saying GECS probably has losses of less than $20 billion — not the $50 billion some investors have claimed.
American International Group, Inc. (NYSE: AIG) soared 9.17% to $43.57 on 39.75 million shares compared to total average volume of 102.94 million shares . American International Group Inc.’s U.S. rescue package, revised three times in the past year, would be eased again under a proposal being pushed by the leader of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, the Bloomberg reported.
