Grainy photos in a Canadian Broadcasting Corp. (
CBC) documentary neatly sum up the challenge, showing hundreds of equipment laden-prospectors climbing the Chilkoot Pass en route to the gold discoveries around Dawson City.
Against a backdrop of deep snow, they look like ants crawling up a mountain.
