Dollar General Jumps on Buffett Stake

Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway BRK reported after the bell today that it had taken a long position in Dollar General DG over the past three months. According to the 13-f filling, Berkshire owns 1.5 million shares as of June 30th. They did not own any shares in DG when they last reported, which was back on March 31st. Shares of Dollar General are climbing in the after hours session, currently higher by 3.88%, trading at $33.44. They ended the regular session higher by 1.67%, at $33.44. Dollar General Corporation is a discount retailer. As of February 25, 2011, the company operated 9,414 stores located in 35 states, primarily in the southern, southwestern, Midwestern and eastern United States. Berkshire Hathaway Inc. is a holding company owning subsidiaries engaged in a number of diverse business activities. Berkshire's Insurance businesses are conducted on both a primary basis and a reinsurance basis.
