Today's Morning Top Gainers (FONR, AVCT, ICTG, KGN, SRDX)
Fonar Corporation (NASDAQ: FONR) is the top percentage gainers in morning trade and surged 71% today to $3.67 on huge volume of 2.25 million shares after it reported full year 2009 net income of $0.21 per share after the bell Monday, compared to the loss of $2.76 per share last year. Today, FONR made a new 52-week high at $4.60.
Avocent Corporation (NASDAQ: AVCT) rallied 21.15% on 36.42 million shares and now trades at $24.86 after Emerson (NYSE: EMR) agreed to acquire Avocent in an all-cash tender offer of $25 per share, or approximately $1.2 billion.
ICT Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: ICTG) is also moving sharply by 42.27% to $15.01 on 828K shares after a report the network gear and data storage company is up for sale. Sykes Enterprises Incorporated (Nasdaq: SYKE) and ICT have entered into an agreement where Sykes will acquire ICTG. Sykes will pay $15.38 per share of ICTG common, fully diluted, for a total of $263 million.
Keegan Resources Inc. (AMEX: KGN) soared 17.57% now trades at $4.55 on an unusual volume of 301K shares after Keegan Resources Inc said new results from its 2009 drilling program at the Esaase gold property in southwest Ghana show further “excellent results” from drill holes down dip from the existing resource as well as from shallow strike extension drilling to the north of the current resource targeting high grades at shallow depths.
SurModics, Inc. (NASDAQ: SRDX) climbed 23.90% to $30.07 on over 527K shares after it entered into an agreement where Roche and Genetech obtained the rights to SurModics proprietary biodegradable microparticle drug delivery system to develop and commericalize a sustained drug delivery formulation of Lucentis (ranibizumab injection). The contract also provide Genetech and Roche the opportunity to develop additional compounds for the treatment of ophthalmic diseases.
