Microsoft To Raise Prices Of New Xbox Games From 2023: Here's How Much You'll Have To Shell Out

Microsoft Corporation MSFT is increasing the prices of new Xbox games from $60 to $70 starting 2023. 

What Happened: Games built for Xbox Series X|S, including Forza Motorsport, Redfall and Starfield, will cost $69.99 at launch, reported IGN. 

The games will be available as part of Microsoft's subscription service, Game Pass, for a $9.99 monthly premium on Windows and Xbox consoles. 

"This price reflects the content, scale and technical complexity of these titles," a Microsoft spokesperson told IGN.

Xbox has hinted that regional pricing may vary, but so far, it has not given any specifics for other countries. 

Microsoft did not immediately respond to Benzinga's request for comments.

Why It's Important: With this $10 hike in pricing, Microsoft is following in the footsteps of its gaming rivals from Ubisoft Entertainment SA UBSFY, Sony Group Corp. SONY and Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. TTWO

Ubisoft, Sony and Take-Two Interactive have already announced $70 price increases for some new games. Sony is reportedly discussing the price increase to be much higher, the report noted.
