Alibaba Cloud Fault On Sunday Hampered Crypto Transactions; Service Got Restored Later In The Day

Alibaba Group Holding Limited BABA cloud computing unit Alibaba Cloud suffered a system failure on December 18.
The fault led to suspending cryptocurrency withdrawals on the OKX exchange and disabling websites at Macau’s monetary authority and other businesses, the SCMP reports.
An equipment aberration at an Alibaba Cloud data center in Hong Kong affected the regular use of ECS (Elastic Compute Service), [database], and other cloud products in Available Zone C in the region, the OKX tweeted.

Alibaba Cloud partner in Hong Kong managed the data center.
OKX said an erratic connection error with its cloud provider affected the user experience after users complained about difficulties in withdrawing funds.
OKX later tweeted that cloud services have resumed but have not entirely stabilized yet.
The fault hampered the websites and apps operated by the Monetary Authority of Macau, Galaxy Macau hotel, Lotus TV Macau, and food delivery platform MFood.
By December 18 evening, the websites of Galaxy Macau, Lotus TV, and MFood were still inaccessible.
