Blockchain firm SIMBA Chain has received a $30 million investment from the U.S. Air Force under its Strategic Technology Reachback and Analysis program (STRATFI).

The investment will fund the development and deployment of blockchain applications in supply chain management, with a focus on securing the future dominance of the USAF and its partner organizations, including the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Research & Engineering, the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, and the Defense Logistics Agency.

The new project for the USAF, which represents a significant increase in budget compared to previous blockchain initiatives, will improve the efficiency and comprehensive management of assets within the Department of Defense supply chain.

Stacy Betlej-Amodeo, Vice President of Government Operations at SIMBA Chain, said, "Our new project for the USAF will pave the way to more efficient and comprehensive management of assets within the Department of Defense supply chain. SIMBA is thrilled to build upon our existing partnership with the DoD to scale blockchain technology across the enterprise."

SIMBA Chain has previously developed various blockchain applications to enhance USAF activities, such as the tokenization of the organization’s budget to improve accounting and the tracking of critical components vital to the air service branch.

The new STRATFI investment will significantly accelerate the development of the SIMBA Blocks platform, delivering in-transit visibility that supports the USAF strategic mission.

Bryan Ritchie, CEO of SIMBA Chain, said, "Through STRATFI our government partners are sending a strong demand signal for blockchain technology. Given the interconnectedness of the DoD supply chain, it also signals an opportunity to collaborate and increase adoption within the commercial industry."
