- Snap Inc SNAP launched My AI, a new chatbot running the latest version of OpenAI's ChatGPT technology customized for Snapchat.
- My AI is available as an experimental feature for Snapchat+ subscribers, rolling out this week.
- My AI can recommend birthday gift ideas, plan a hiking trip, suggest a dinner recipe, or even write a haiku about cheese.
- Snapchat users can give it a name and customize the wallpaper for Chat.
- However, My AI is prone to hallucination, and users can trick it into saying just about anything akin to its peers.
- While initially only available for $3.99 a month to Snapchat Plus subscribers, it aimed to make the bot available to all of Snapchat's 750 million monthly users, Snap CEO Evan Spiegel told The Verge.
- "The big idea is that in addition to talking to our friends and family every day, we're going to talk to AI every day," he says. "And this is something we're well positioned to do as a messaging service."
- OpenAI grabbed attention courtesy of its chatbot ChatGPT, adept at answering questions and writing essays and poems, and image generator Dall-E 2.
- In January, Microsoft Corp MSFT inked a new multiyear, $10 billion investment with ChatGPT-maker OpenAI. The deal followed its previous investments in 2019 and 2021.
- Microsoft claimed mixed success as it shared its preliminary findings after a week of testing new artificial intelligence additions to its Bing search engine.
- Price Action: SNAP shares traded higher by 1.43% at $9.95 on the last check Monday.
