Tesla Cybertruck Frunk Looks To Take Cues From Ford F-150 Lightning

A recently released image of the Tesla Inc TSLA Cybertruck unveiled the electric pickup truck's giant frunk (front trunk) for the first time.

The photo shows the hood of the Cybertruck opened, revealing a spacious frunk and a new design feature for Tesla: the front bumper lifts with the entire assembly, providing better access to the storage space.

Electrek shared the tweet showing the frunk, which is reminiscent of the Ford Motor Co F F-150 Lightning's sizable front trunk and lifting front bumper.

This development in electric pickup truck design showcases the evolving utility and storage capabilities of these vehicles. Now pickup trucks can have a large open bed, along with a trunk-like closed and locking storage area, as long as they're electric.

It is worth noting that none of Tesla's current vehicles have a powered frunk, while competitors such as Rivian Automotive Inc RIVN and Ford do offer this feature. It remains to be seen whether the Cybertruck will ultimately have a powered frunk.

A lot of new information has been coming out about the Cybertruck, including a video of a Cybertruck crash test, a TikTok video showing Tesla testing the prototype's steering and the Cybertruck's giant windshield wiper being tested in a Texas wind tunnel

Production of the Cybertruck is expected to begin later this year.
