The highly-anticipated Nothing Phone (2) is all set to launch on July 11, almost a full year after the launch of the company's first smartphone, the Phone (1). Unlike its predecessor, though, the Nothing Phone (2) will launch in the U.S. this time.
What Happened: The Nothing Phone (2) launch date has been confirmed, and the Carl Pei-led company has also revealed that its upcoming smartphone will launch in the U.S.
The Nothing Phone (2)'s launch will be streamed on July 11, starting at 11 a.m. ET.
What We Know So Far: Thanks to teasers from the company, it has been confirmed that the Nothing Phone (2) will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset and a bigger 4,700mAh battery.
Nothing also retains the "glyph" notification lights first seen on last year's Phone (1). Apart from alerting about new notifications, these lights also add a dash of style to the phone, helping it stand out amongst its competitors.
Why It's Important: The Nothing Phone (2) will be the first smartphone from the company to reach the U.S. shores, largely dominated by Apple and Samsung. While the Phone (1) was a mid-ranger, the Phone (2) places itself in the flagship segment, thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset.
While Nothing managed to sell around 750,000 units of the Phone (1), it was not launched in the U.S. Carl Pei told Inverse that the U.S. is now Nothing's "No. 1 priority".
