Apple Inc. AAPL has rolled out the macOS Sonoma public beta update, allowing users to test the upcoming update before it is rolled out to everyone. But since it is a beta release, bugs are to be expected. If you've already installed it and want to downgrade to macOS Ventura, read on to find out how to do it.

What Happened: Apple has rolled out the macOS Sonoma update as a public beta release, allowing users to test it. But if you are facing issues with the update and want to go back to macOS Ventura since it is more stable, you can do it via two easy methods.

How To Downgrade To macOS Ventura From macOS Sonoma

1. Using Time Machine Backup

If you followed our macOS Sonoma guide earlier and performed a Time Machine backup, downgrading to macOS Ventura will be easy enough.

• Connect the Time Machine drive to the Mac.
• Click on the Apple icon and select Restart.
• Now, go to the boot selection screen.
  • For Macs with Apple Silicon: Press and hold the power button and wait for the startup screen, then click on Options and select Continue.
  • For Intel Macs: Press and hold Command + R when the Apple logo shows up.
• Now, select Restore from Time Machine backup and the backup source.
• Select your macOS Ventura backup and click on Continue.

Note that this will completely wipe your data on the macOS Sonoma installation. If you want to save any files from that instance, back them up.

2. Using macOS Recovery

This is the next best option if you don't have a Time Machine backup.

• Turn off the Mac.
• Now, turn it on and immediately try one of the following three combinations:
• Command + R: This will let you reinstall the latest macOS version on your Mac.
• Option + Command + R: Upgrade to the latest macOS version available for your Mac.
• Shift + Option + Command + R: This will reinstall the macOS your Mac came with or the closest version available.
• Now, enter your password and select Reinstall macOS.
• Follow the on-screen options and select the disk to flash.

Your Mac will restart several times during the process, so make sure you don't close the lid.
