Kanye West Returns To Twitter, Sparks Public Outrage

Twitter owner Elon Musk has reinstated the Twitter account of rapper Ye, formerly recognized as Kanye West, eight months after it was suspended for offensive tweets for the second time, Business Insider reports.

Musk’s Decision: Musk had previously stated, “I tried my best. Despite that, he again violated our rule against incitement to violence. Account will be suspended.”

Yet, the account has now been reinstated, following assurances that Ye would not use the platform to share antisemitic or otherwise harmful language.

Public Reaction: The decision has been met with criticism from Jewish rights groups.

The non-profit Stop Antisemitism wrote, “We are disgusted to see antisemite Kanye West unbanned by Twitter. What was once a platform for debate and discussion has simply become a cesspool for bigots to spew their hatred.”

Future Implications: Ye has not tweeted anything since his reinstatement at the time of writing this article. His account now bears a gold verification mark, typically reserved for businesses on the platform. However, he will not be able to monetize his account, and no advertisements will be placed alongside his posts.
