CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Aug. 14, 2009) - TransCanada Corporation (TSX:TRP) (NYSE:TRP) (TransCanada) will be presenting the town of Hardisty, AB with a donation to support the purchase of a new pumper truck for the town's Fire and Rescue department at a check presentation ceremony today at the Hardisty Fire Hall.

A recent survey of all buildings in the town of Hardisty indicated that the current 1975 pumper unit is no longer sufficient to ensure proper fire control for the community. The new pumper truck, with a price tag of more than $300,000, will meet the current needs of the town, provide additional support to Flagstaff County and become the first response unit for the Hardisty Complex facilities.

"TransCanada recognizes what it means to be a good neighbour," says Peter Kruselnicki, TransCanada vice-president of public sector relations. "We are always looking for ways to lend a hand to our neighbours, as we build better and stronger communities together. Our partnership with the town of Hardisty is an example of that commitment in action."
