Apple Inc AAPL might have more than one reason to get excited this month. This year, Apple seems keen on simultaneous releases of iOS 17 and iPadOS for iPhone and iPad, respectively, which means it has dodged last year’s staggered rollout this year.
What happened: According to insights from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the tech giant is reportedly close to finalizing its latest software updates, iOS 17 and iPadOS 17.
His well-placed sources inside Apple indicate that the Beta 8 of these OTA (over the air) updates, released just last week, will likely be the last version for tests, signaling that the official release is imminent.

In 2022, iPadOS 16’s release came over a month after iOS 16. This intentional delay allowed Apple extra time to refine its new app window management system, “Stage Manager“, which faced initial skepticism during its beta testing phase.
The timeliness of this year’s software rollout might be associated with the upcoming iPhone 15 series. If speculations hold, iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 could be launched alongside the iPhone 15 announcement at Apple’s “Wonderlust” event on September 12.
Apple will stream this fall event live. Those eager to watch the latest innovations firsthand can tune in on Apple’s official website, YouTube channel, or the Apple TV app.
