Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to meet with President Joe Biden at the White House and hold meetings on Capitol Hill next week, according to insiders, Axios reported.
The visit is crucial as the U.S. Congress is currently reviewing President Biden’s proposal to approve over $20 billion in additional aid for Ukraine.
Biden has pledged to back Ukraine “as long as it takes.” However, as the conflict continues, there are growing splits, especially among House Republicans, over the extent of U.S. aid to Kyiv.
Zelenskyy’s visit to Washington is slated for next Thursday, sources reveal. His attendance at the UN General Assembly in New York was previously known, but his Washington stops had not been publicly disclosed.
The White House has yet to comment on the matter.
