Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Inc., recently visited the US-Mexico border with Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas), as announced on Musk’s social media platform X.
Musk arrived in Eagle Pass aiming to personally assess the situation and engage in discussions with key officials and law enforcement personnel, reported The Hill. During a live video on his X account, Musk addressed the public, expressing his pro-immigrant stance and advocating for an expanded legal immigration system.
Musk, a South African immigrant himself, emphasized that hardworking and honest individuals should be allowed into the U.S. However, he insisted on an expedited legal approval process and disapproved of admitting individuals who break the law.
Highlighting the strain on New York City due to the influx of migrants, Musk warned that the city, and consequently the nation, could face a collapse in social services if action is not taken promptly.
In a separate video, Gonzales guided Musk around Eagle Pass, discussing local safety concerns. Gonzales attributed the surge in migrants to the Biden administration, expressing worries about the situation turning “normal”. He proposed crafting a nonpartisan solution during the potential upcoming government shutdown.
