Trump's Legal Team Questions Mental Health Of Former Accountant In New York Civil Fraud Trial

Donald Trump‘s attorneys have called into question the mental health of his former accountant. This occurred during the fourth day of the trial.

As reported by Business Insider, the attorney for the ex-president, Jesus Suarez, focused on a disclaimer in a document from Mazars, the accountancy firm where the former accountant, Donald Bender, worked. The document indicated that Bender’s availability was contingent on his “physical and mental health.”

Bender responded to the queries by stating that he had some health issues but they were resolved within two weeks. He also categorically denied having any mental health issues.

However, the attorneys continued to press on, with Cliff Robert, representing Trump’s sons, challenging Bender’s recollection of his interactions with Jeff McConney, another Trump Organization accountant.

Bender had previously testified in a criminal trial against the Trump Organization in 2022, which resulted in a $1.6 million fine. In this ongoing case, New York Attorney General Letitia James is seeking more severe sanctions against Trump and his real estate empire, including a suspension on their ability to do business in New York.

Trump has maintained that his actions were simply industry-standard puffery and that banks should have known better than to take his financial statements at face value.
