Vivek Ramaswamy Condemns Hamas, Pledges Solidarity With Israel: 'Kidnapping Civilians, Murdering Children Are War Crimes'

Introduction: GOP presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy takes a firm stance against the recent Hamas attacks, reaffirming his support for Israel and urging the U.S. to follow suit.

What Happened: Ramaswamy expressed his disgust at the recent Hamas attacks on X, formerly Twitter, calling them “barbaric and medieval”. He condemned the shooting and kidnapping of civilians, and the killing of children, labeling them as war crimes. Ramaswamy emphasized that Israel’s right to exist and defend itself should never be questioned, and that Iran-backed Hamas and Hezbollah must not be allowed to prevail. “I stand with Israel and the U.S. should too,” added Ramaswamy.

The candidate shared a video of a Fox Business interview in which he said that the actions of Hamas in Israel were tantamount to war crimes. “The U.S. role should absolutely be to stand with Israel,” he said.

However, Ramaswamy said that U.S. should make sure that the support of Israel doesn’t trigger a broader war in the Middle East.

This statement comes in the wake of criticism from former Vice President Mike Pence, who accused Ramaswamy and other Republican Party members of isolationist views following the Hamas-Israel crisis.

In September, he challenged GOP rivals for misrepresenting his stance on Israel, emphasizing his support for military backing. The presidential candidate’s main concern was the potential loss of American lives in a conflict between Israel and Iran.

Following the recent crisis, Pence criticized Ramaswamy and others for their “retreat on the world stage”. Pence’s comments mark the first impact of the violence within the Republican primary.
