Donald Trump’s niece Mary Trump took a jab at her uncle after the former president made some strong remarks at a campaign rally in Adel, Clive on Monday.

What Happened: In a bid to whip up support from his fanatic supporters, Donald Trump railed against his four indictments and the gag orders imposed by judges. “What they don’t understand is that I am willing to go to jail if that's what it takes for our country to win and become a democracy again,” he said.

Commenting on a video clip of his rally speech shared on X, formerly Twitter, Mary Trump said, “Sounds like a plan.”

At Clive, Donald Trump also said he would bar refugees fleeing Gaza following Israel’s retaliatory strikes from entering the U.S. He told the crowd that if he wins a second term, he would no longer allow “dangerous lunatics, haters, bigots and maniacs to get residency in our country.”

Donald Trump also slammed the support for terrorists among the student community in the Universities. “They're teaching your children hate,” he said, adding "Under the Trump administration, we will revoke the student visas of radical anti-American and anti-Semitic foreigners at our colleges and universities and we will send them straight back home.”

Why It’s Important: Mary Trump is among those spearheading the anti-Donald Trumper campaign, as the former president seeks a second term in office. Opinion polls show Donald Trump leading a crowded Republican primary fray by a wide margin.

Speaking at the recent “Stop Trump” summit organized by the New Republic, Mary Trump, a psychologist, said the deep support he has across much of the the country is due to people identifying with his weakness. “They identify with the fact that he gets away with everything," she said.

The 2024 election, the psychologist said, is “​​a choice between democracy and fascism.”
