What's Going On With Microsoft Stock Monday?

Microsoft Corp MSFT shares are trading higher Monday after CEO Satya Nadella announced that OpenAI's Sam Altman and Greg Brockman will be joining the company.

What To Know: In a new post on X, Nadella said former OpenAI CEO Altman, former OpenAI president Brockman and other colleagues will join Microsoft to lead a new advanced artificial intelligence research team.

"We look forward to moving quickly to provide them with the resources needed for their success," Nadella said in the X post.

Microsoft has made multiple investments in OpenAI and maintains a tech partnership with the company.

The news comes after OpenAI announced Friday that it was replacing Altman  following a deliberative review process that found he "was not consistently candid in his communications with the board, hindering its ability to exercise its responsibilities." Late Sunday, OpenAI announced that it would bring in former Twitch CEO Emmett Shear to replace Altman, hours after Nadella's post.

The Microsoft CEO also confirmed that the company will continue to work with OpenAI through its partnership.

"We remain committed to our partnership with OpenAI and have confidence in our product roadmap, our ability to continue to innovate with everything we announced at Microsoft Ignite, and in continuing to support our customers and partners. We look forward to getting to know Emmett Shear and OAI's new leadership team and working with them," Nadella said.
