The OpenAI drama and chaos had a huge impact on the AI community as well as the company's employees. It has also led to a flood of memes on social media, and some users are now comparing it to the iconic HBO drama Game of Thrones.
What Happened: A user on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, compared OpenAI's leadership team to characters from Game of Thrones.

Sam Altman, who is at the center of the controversies at OpenAI, has unsurprisingly been compared to Jon Snow, played by Kit Harington. Jon Snow, son of Lyanna Stark and Aegon Targaryen, gets deceived and cheated multiple times throughout the show like OpenAI’s board deceived Altman.
Mira Murati, OpenAI's CTO and also the first interim CEO to replace Altman, has been compared to Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke. She is one of the last known members of the Targaryen family, and after fighting Snow's Night Watch, both combine their forces to fight the actual enemy – White Walkers.
Murati, too, has thrown her weight behind Altman despite being named his replacement.
Ilya Sutskever, who initially triggered this storm at OpenAI, has been compared to Petyr Baelish, played by Aidan Gillen. Baelish is known for his smarts, but he eventually ends up losing. Sutskever, too, is now amongst the 747 OpenAI employees asking for Altman's return.
Microsoft Corp. MSFT CEO Satya Nadella, who has tried to clean up the mess by bringing in Altman and his colleagues, has been compared to Lord Varys, played by Conleth Hill.
Varys is known for his intelligence and the ability to win from losing positions, which is also something that Nadella has done with this OpenAI debacle.
In a cheeky end, though, ChatGPT has been compared to the Night King, who is the big villain at the end. Perhaps ChatGPT triggered the OpenAI chaos, and we just don't know it yet?
Other notable mentions include Greg Brockman, compared to Samwell Tarly, while Emmett Shear, the new CEO, has been compared to Stannis Baratheon.
This is all in jest, though.
