Meta Platforms, Inc META, following the launch of its Quest 3 headset, has decided to reduce the prices of its older Quest 2 headset by $50 permanently.
The 128GB version's price is now $249, down from $299, while the 256GB version is available for $299, reduced from $349. Initially seen during Black Friday sales, these new prices are now permanent, TechCrunch reports.
In addition to the headset, Meta is lowering the prices of several Quest 2 accessories. The Quest 2 Elite Strap with a battery is now available for $89.99 instead of $119.99.
Meta cut the price of the standard Quest 2 Elite Strap to $49.99 from $59.99. Other accessories, like the Quest 2 Carrying Case, Active Pack, and Fit Pack, are also discounted at $44.99, $59.99, and $39.99, respectively.

Quest's virtual reality headsets are experiencing lower sales during this bustling shopping period. A key factor contributing to this trend is shoppers' hesitation to try on the headsets in stores.
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, shoppers particularly shunned these headsets, known for accumulating dirt and potentially disrupting makeup.
Despite Meta's attempts to regularly clean them, many customers remained wary.
Before this, in July 2022, Meta had increased the Quest 2 headset's price by $100, from $299.99 to $399.99.
However, in June, concurrent with the announcement of the Quest 3, Meta dropped the Quest 2's price back to its original $299.99, likely to encourage more sales.
Meta's VR platform offers an extensive library of over 500 games, further bolstered by a significant deal last year that brought Roblox Corp RBLX to the Quest headset via the Meta Quest Store.
With the price drop of the Quest 2, Meta aims to attract consumers to VR, presenting it as a more affordable alternative to the $500 Quest 3.
Price Action: META shares traded lower by 1.31% at $349.31 on the last check Tuesday.
